Reading Read, Read, Read! It is important that students continue to read as much as possible. Please encourage your child to read 20 minutes each day, and then reflect on their reading by talking or writing about what they read. Students can chose to read a book they have at home, or use the online resources below. Epic! -Kid's Books and Videos Our class has been using Epic! throughout the school year. Follow this link, https://www.getepic.com/students and enter the class code. The class code: PMG8209. Reading Comprehension Strategies: Into the book You can sign in as a student and it will give you a password to sign-in if you want to save your progress, but you don't have to sign up in order to use the program. There are mini-lessons and fun activities for each comprehension strategy. reading.ecb.org/ Before/After-Reading Reflections: Encourage your child to do one or more of the following: - Make predictions (What do you think this will be about?) -Ask questions (Do you have any questions about what you're reading?) -Visualize (Can you see a picture in your mind as you read?) -Summarize (Can you tell me what happened first, next, last?) |
Writing Grade 4 Forms of Writing: Personal Narrative: Students began the year by working through a personal narrative piece. Students chose a real life event and followed the writing process to complete it. Students began the first steps of the writing process in class, by choosing a topic and coming up with 3 solid reasons to support their opinion.
